Our story
From one modification to a workshop of ideas.
Cincai Pedal Sarawak began with the search for a particular modification for an S-style guitar. The idea of placing that modification inside a standalone pedal came soon after, and it has grown into the work we continue today.
Built by hand, driven by passion
Founded by 2022, Nasi Lemak was the first experiment became the starting point for Cincai Pedal.
Since then, we’ve continued designing, modifying, and building effects with the same mindset – taking familiar ideas, experimenting with them, and shaping them into something we would genuinely want to use ourselves.
Based in Kuching, Sarawak, Cincai Pedal builds pedals with a hands-on approach, with an emphasis on practical circuits, local character, and doing things a little differently when there’s a good reason to.

In the Beningging.. In the bening.. In the beningning.. Ini da beningginggg..
Our Beginning
Cincai Pedal Sarawak grew out of guitar tinkering.
Nasi Lemak began as a personal project, and received the first order(Thank you Nicholas!) within the same day of the prototype release. That request marked the start of our business in the industry.

Behind The Builds
Circuit work, designing, building and testing are all done in-house.
Every circuit is made with a sound in mind better suited to the person using it. That means adding a useful feature or modifying an existing circuit to get closer to the sound a user wants. Understanding what a player needs is an important part of the work.
Prior to releasing a pedal, we usually ask musician friends to try it and share their feedback. Hearing how it responds in someone else’s hands helps us decide whether it’s ready or still needs more work.

Helbert Chiu, or most know him as Bert, the mastermind and core of Cincai Pedal Sarawak. Began as a guitar repair technician in a local music store, he worked on pedal circuits along the journey and stumbled upon the industry of pedal making.

Made In Sarawak
As a Sarawakian-owned company, we want to see our people and products being recognized beyond home. Building Cincai is our contribution to that ambition: making something here that musicians elsewhere can discover, play and enjoy. That's why we work with local graphics & design services, and source components locally wherever possible.
The hope is that someone connects with a pedal’s sound, then gets to know a little more about where it came from.
